Conference Attendance Information

The SCID Conference was a huge success and now that’s it’s over, I would like to share some of the attendance information with you. To the best of my knowledge, here is the information:

I received 60 registrations (including faculty & industry) for the conference.

2 families had to cancel at the last minute.

Broken down further, in attendance there were:

95 Adults (including faculty, staff & industry)

48 Children (ages 18 and under) 27 of them have SCID

60 Rooms were filled

Quick update,

Barb has been busy uploading the pictures Don took at the conference. Anyone who took pictures at the conference is also welcome to share their pictures with the rest of the group. Email Barb at scidemail (at) scid (dot) net (scidemail@scid.net) and she will assign you a username/password, then allowing you to upload your own photos. It’s quick, easy and free.

Well, the SCID Conference is over and I want to thank those of you who attended and made this such a huge success. The faculty was amazing and I believe something new was learned by all of us. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer weekend or a more beautiful location.

I just want to share a few of the remarkable comments that I have heard from some of the families and even the speakers:

“This conference has been life changing for our family.“

“I very much enjoyed the weekend, participating and getting to meet families.”

“I am so fortunate to be part of such a great bunch of generous and caring people. I had no idea when I became interested in SCID research that this entire extra dimension would be part of it. Maybe the best part!”

“My kids had a great time and the people you had overseeing the kids activities were awesome.”

I think we should all pat ourselves on the back and say “job well done.”

It’s Finally Here!

I can’t believe the conference is going to be this weekend. I’m looking forward to meeting new people, rekindling old relationships, and seeing people that I call a ” true friend.”

Remember conference registration begins at 4:00 pm on Friday. Please bring your auction items with you to registration, as there will be some one there to take the items from you. The auction will be on Saturday evening, during dinner.

Here’s to safe travel and I’ll see you on Friday at registration!!!

Information in the Mail.

I sent out the packets on Saturday, July 5, 2008 so be expecting them to arrive in the mail this week. Please review the information and let me know ASAP if I need to make any changes to your room reservation.

For dinner on Saturday we are having a themed event. Our theme is going to be “Survivor,” feel free to dress for the occasion if you like. For those of you who have watched the tv show, you know that episodes are full of “challenges”, “tribal counsel” and an “immunity idol.” We will have our own “family challenges” and the winner will receive the “SCID Conference 2008 Immunity Idol.”

The countdown has begun. We have 23 days left until the SCID Conference. Just a quick update, I’m in the process of putting informational packets together for everyone attending the conference. Each packet will include:

1. Updated Agenda

2. Supply List/Rules

3. Confirmation of your Room Reservation

4. Directions

5. General Informaiton

Please expect these packets to be mailed out by the end of this week.

Registration is now officially over. For those families that want to come but have not registered, you need to contact me immediately at Heather@scidangelsforlife.com and I will put you on a waiting list, but unless someone cancels, there will not be room for you.

We’ve had a wonderful turn out for registration and I am very excited about this event. This SCID conference will be a wonderful place for families to meet, share life experiences, gather information, share information and for families to provide hope to one another. That being said, I’m looking forward to seeing and meeting each and every one of you next month!
